FERC Relicensing Timeline

The FERC Relicensing Timeline is a best estimate and will be updated when the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issues the formal timeline in the Notice of Commencement of Proceeding.

February 1, 2024

  • File Request to use Traditional Licensing Process (TLP)
  • File Notice of Intent to file an application
  • File Pre-Application Document

February 2, 2024 - April 1, 2024

  • Issue Notice of Commencement of Proceeding and decision regarding request to use TLP
  • Initiation of informal consultation request

April 2, 2024 - May 16, 2024

  • First Stage Consultation
  • Consult with resource agencies, Native American Tribes, and members of the public
  • Schedule joint meeting, post notice, provide notice to resource agencies, Native American Tribes and FERC

May 1, 2024 - May 31, 2024

  • Joint meeting and site visit

June 1, 2024 - July 30, 2024

  • Written comments due to respective project applicant. (KRCD or DWR)

July 30, 2024

  • Relicensing Participant must file dispute in writing to FERC

July 30, 2024 - August 31, 2027

  • Conduct Studies
  • Second Stage Consultation

April 5, 2027

  • KRCD and DWR must provide agencies and Native American tribes a copy of the Draft License Application (DLA)

July 6, 2027

  • Written comments on the DLA due to the respective project applicant. (KRCD or DWR)

August 31, 2027

  • File a Final License Application and provide copy to agencies, Native American tribes, governmental offices and consulted members of the public
