Kings River Conservation District is proud to announce that U.S. Department of Energy’s (@energy) Grid Deployment Office selected Kings River Conservation District to receive up to $5,000,000 as part of an investment from the “Maintaining and Enhancing Hydroelectricity Incentives” program. The funds will support our work at the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant–strengthening and modernizing our power grid by:
- Adding the capability to capture low-level flows. Unit 4 would be used when releases through the bypass are too low for the operational range of the existing three units.
- Supporting renewable portfolio standard needs of key CA water infrastructure conveyance projects.
All without environmental or recreational impacts, and no changes to the existing water hydraulics at the power plant.
