We need volunteers next week for our Annual Fish P We need volunteers next week for our Annual Fish Population Survey! 

The Kings River Fisheries Management Program’s Annual Fish Population Survey is here, and we need more volunteers to make this year a success. We still have volunteer spots available for the below dates & and locations on the Kings River: To apply, visit the krfmp website, link in bio. 

🐟 December 2 (Wildwood) – a few spots left
🐡 December 3 (Greenbelt) – a few spots left 
🐠 December 4 (Winton) – many volunteers still needed

Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, an aspiring environmental professional, or an experienced professional, this is a terrific opportunity to spend a day learning about the amazing variety of fish in the Kings River while wading with a great group of people! 

Maps and site directions will be provided to all who express an interest in participating.

Sonja Thiede, Associate Resource Analyst at KRCD, Sonja Thiede, Associate Resource Analyst at KRCD, recently presented at the 2025 @esrigram Esri Central California Water User Group Meeting at the offices of @fresnofid. Sonja presented on the multiple ways KRCD leverages GIS technology across our various programs and projects. Esri allows us to see the whole picture when it comes to our data so we can make important decisions with confidence and efficiency.
KRCD and Kings River Water Association recently ha KRCD and Kings River Water Association recently had the privilege of joining Congressman @repvincefong and Colonel McTighe from @usacesacramento and their staffs at Pine Flat Dam to discuss a proposed feasibility study on raising the spillway at Pine Flat Dam by 12 feet. Raising Pine Flat Dam represents a rare and valuable opportunity to build on an existing critical federal asset to provide significant new surface water storage and flood control capabilities. 

Key benefits of raising Pine Flat Dam: 
✔️ Enhances flood protection for downstream communities
✔️ Improves drought resilience for agriculture, municipal water supplies, and groundwater recharge 
✔️ Increases KRCD's hydropower generation capability
Yesterday, our Veteran staff members participated Yesterday, our Veteran staff members participated in a guided tour of the Clovis Veterans Memorial District & Heritage Center. 
 
KRCD's Veteran staff includes David Merritt, U.S. Navy (General Manager, KRCD), Christopher Alcorn, Army National Guard (Electrical-Mechanical Testing Technician at the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant), Chris May, U.S. Navy (Maintenance Journeyworker at the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant), Cody De Yoe, U.S. Navy (Senior Operator at the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant), and Tim Green, U.S. Navy (Electrical-Mechanical Testing Technician at the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant).
