Another start to summer means another successful r Another start to summer means another successful release of rainbow trout fry into the Kings River by the Kings River Fisheries Management Program (KRFMP) team.

On April 21, we received 36,000 rainbow trout eggs that were placed in the incubator building for rearing.

Thank you to over 20+ volunteers who collectively contributed 36 hours in the incubator building to ensure the fry remained safe and healthy until they were ready to be released. On June 12, 7 staff members and 12 volunteers released the rainbow trout fry into the Kings River! The trout incubator building will return to service in early January.

We would also like to acknowledge that the trout eggs were purchased using grant funding provided to the @kingsriverconservancy through the Ted Martin Family Grant.

To sign up for future volunteer opportunities at the trout incubator building, please visit the link in our bio.

Before our Flood Operations & Maintenance team beg Before our Flood Operations & Maintenance team begins any work along the river; our environmental team conducts surveys to check for active nests and other sensitive species in project areas. If any are found, we set up protective buffer zones or adjust the timing of work to avoid disturbance. In April, we completed surveys for sediment removal along the Kings River levee system and removal of debris and excessive fire fuel vegetation. These surveys help ensure flood control efforts move forward while protecting the local wildlife.
Pawan has been an incredible asset to the District Pawan has been an incredible asset to the District since joining KRCD 5 years ago. His leadership and management of the Jeff L. Taylor Pine Flat Power Plant have been critical to our ability to produce reliable, clean hydroelectricity. Thank you, Pawan, for your hard work and dedication, and we look forward to what the next five years will bring!
