ABOUT THIS PAGE
Welcome to the Kings River Region Groundwater Information Portal
The objective of this portal is to provide background information, tools, and resources specific to implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in the Kings and Tulare Lake Subbasins. This portal houses information on current and historic groundwater conditions and the status of planning and project implementation activities in the Kings River service area. The region overlies portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kings counties. Local and regional water management agencies have been actively engaged in groundwater management for decades through various water conservation and groundwater recharge programs, including but not limited to groundwater management plan and integrated regional water management plan (IRWMP) efforts. These efforts have resulted in significant monitoring and data collection, and in the development of regional projects that address critical water resources issues. Under SGMA enacted in 2014, another major lift by local and regional agencies is currently underway to reach balanced groundwater supply by the year 2040. In the coming years there will be changes in how groundwater is locally managed, and many creative solutions will be implemented to reach sustainability. Stay engaged in the process by signing up for our SGMA E-News email distribution list, identifying and engaging with your local Groundwater Sustainability Agency using our map tool below, and exploring this groundwater portal.
