KRCD along with the Kings River Water Association (KRWA) and the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) has been implementing a series of habitat enhancement projects in the Fresno County foothills near Piedra.

These projects have enhanced the fishery habitat by modifying stream flow velocity, creating calm areas and increasing spawning habitat available for trout in the river.
